meet the Team

Candice Wilmshurst

Co-Owner & Artistic Director

Candice co-founded The League Studios with Brad in 2017, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the dance and performing arts industry. She began her training in classical ballet, which remained her main focus until her mid-teens, when she discovered a love for musical theatre and the broader world of performance. That transition shaped her as a versatile dancer and later as an educator, leading her to further training in Jazz, Commercial, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and choreography, along with formal qualifications in Dance Education.

Candice is known for her ability to blend high standards with genuine care. Her teaching style is clear, disciplined, and encouraging — the kind that builds confident dancers who understand both technique and performance quality. Families value the way she pushes students to grow while creating an environment where they feel supported and part of a community.

Since opening in a school hall, Candice has helped shape The League Studios into one of the Fraser Coast’s most trusted and community-focused studios. She leads with a hands-on approach, making sure every dancer — from preschoolers to seniors — feels seen, challenged, and proud of their progress.

For Candice, dance is about more than steps. It’s about resilience, teamwork, confidence, and giving young people a place to belong.

BRAD WILMSHURST

Co-Owner & Technical Director

Brad co-founded The League Studios with Candice in 2017 and brings more than 30 years of industry experience to the studio. An award-winning performer in his earlier career, Brad trained across multiple styles but is now best known for his work in Acrobatics and Cheer.

Before opening the studio, Brad performed professionally on international cruise lines, developing a strong understanding of performance quality, discipline, and industry-level standards — all of which influence his teaching today.

After returning home, he taught across a number of studios and schools, becoming known for his balance of technical clarity, safety-first progressions, and a teaching style that builds confidence without losing the fun.

At The League Studios, Brad leads the acrobatics and cheer programs. His classes are structured, encouraging, and built around helping dancers push their limits safely and with purpose.

Beyond the studio, Brad supports the wider dance community through his acrobatics workshops, helping instructors deepen their technical understanding, refine safe skill progressions, and feel confident teaching higher-risk skills responsibly.

Jenaea Conjar - Teacher & Studio Manager

Jenaea returned to The League Studios in 2025 and quickly settled back in as one of the studio’s most reliable — and funniest — team members. She brings a great mix of creativity, calm organisation, and a down-to-earth sense of humour that makes her classes a place kids genuinely enjoy being.

As an instructor, Jenaea teaches with patience, clarity, and a warm approach that helps dancers feel confident and comfortable. Behind the scenes, she contributes to the creative and planning side of the studio, adding her eye for detail to our events and projects.

Jenaea is a valued part of The League Studios team, bringing heart, humour, and a steady, thoughtful presence to everything she does.

Rachel-Olivia Frieswyk

Head of Ballet

Rachel joined us in 2025 and has become a valued part of our teaching team. With formal training from WAAPA and LINK Dance Company, along with her earlier studies through Kelvin Grove’s QDSE Program, she brings a strong technical foundation and a calm, thoughtful teaching style.

She teaches across ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, improvisation, choreography, and strength & stretch, and she has a knack for helping students understand the “why” behind the technique — not just the steps. Her background in social media, photography, creative writing, and events also shines through in the way she supports our studio projects.

Most importantly, Rachel cares deeply about the dancers in front of her. She’s intentional, reliable, and creates a class environment where students feel encouraged to grow, try new things, and trust the process.

Chloe Hurford

Teacher

Chloe is a long-time member of The League Studios family, starting as a student before stepping confidently into a teaching role. Because she’s grown up in the studio, she understands the culture, the expectations, and what young dancers need to feel supported — and it shows in the way she teaches.

Her classes are calm, structured, and thoughtful. Chloe has a knack for explaining things in a way that actually lands with students, helping them build solid technique and real confidence without overwhelming them. She connects especially well with younger dancers, creating a space where they feel safe to try things, make mistakes, and grow.

Chloe brings reliability, maturity, and a quiet steadiness to everything she does. Whether she’s in the classroom or helping during the busy parts of the year, she’s someone the team can always depend on.

We’re proud to have watched her journey from student to teacher, and she’s now an important part of The League Studios team.

Maya Middlebrook

Teacher

Maya has grown up at The League Studios, starting as a student and eventually finding her place on the teaching team. Having trained here for years, she understands the standard, the expectations, and the rhythm of the studio — especially when it comes to tap.

Tap has always been her strongest style, and she brings that same clarity and sharpness into her teaching. Maya is methodical in how she breaks down footwork, counts, and patterns, giving dancers a solid foundation rather than rushing them through combinations. Her attention to detail helps students build real technique and confidence in a style that often intimidates beginners.

She’s familiar to so many of our dancers — and that connection helps her create classes that feel comfortable, structured, and encouraging. Maya also supports around the studio during busy periods, stepping in where needed and contributing to the day-to-day flow.

From student to teacher, her journey is one the studio has watched unfold for years, and we’re proud to have her leading our tap program.

Katie Jankovic

Teacher

Katie grew up training at The League Studios and has always had a natural strength and passion for acrobatics and performance. After completing her training locally, she went on to pursue full-time studies at Dynamite Studios on the Gold Coast, where she trained intensively in both their Circus and Commercial streams.

During her time there, Katie developed advanced skills across acrobatics, aerial arts, performance technique, strength conditioning and stage presence. Training in a full-time environment gave her a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of safe progressions, correct technique and performance quality.

Katie has now returned home and is an integral part of our Acro and Cheer departments. She works alongside Mr Brad, supporting competitive athletes and developing strong technical foundations in our younger students. Katie now leads her own Acrobatics classes as well as Aerial Silks, bringing energy, discipline and a genuine care for each dancer’s progress.

Having grown up within the studio herself, Katie understands the League culture and what it takes to progress from beginner through to advanced levels. She is passionate about building confident, capable athletes and helping students feel strong in their bodies while learning challenging new skills safely.
